Call of Duty: Warzone 2 continues to bring in various crossovers, some cool and some odd. But among all of them, my favorite addition is the super shotgun from Doom 2. This iconic weapon will be included in the game as part of the Doom bundle, set to release in October.

The Legendary Super Shotgun

The super shotgun, also known as the combat shotgun, first made its appearance in Doom 2. Since then, it has become a staple in the Doom series and many other first-person shooter games. Despite its slow rate of fire, this shotgun makes up for it by packing a powerful punch.

The Doom 2 manual describes the combat shotgun as a double-barrel, sawed-off killing machine. It is the ultimate weapon for close-quarters combat, delivering incredible firepower. However, its dual barrels require more time to reload.

Or do they?

In the Warzone 2 rendition of the super shotgun, you won’t have to worry about reloading if you can take down your enemies with a single pull of the trigger. This faithful recreation of the original weapon maintains its visual and auditory elements, including the iconic muzzle blast animation and the low-framerate reload animation.

Charlie Intel shared a brief clip of the super shotgun in action on Twitter, showcasing how the mid-’90s reload animation perfectly contrasts with the smooth movements of the rest of the game, creating an authentic experience.

Get Ready for a Blast

While we don’t have specific details on the performance of the super shotgun in Warzone 2, as a casual player, I’m more interested in the fun factor than the meta. And this weapon looks like it will be an absolute blast to use.

Aside from the super shotgun, the Doom bundle will also include other exciting features such as the Doomgun gunscreen, Doom weapon charm, Cacodemon and Slayer stickers, new emblems, and a familiar chainsaw that we have yet to see in action.
