Genshin Impact 4.0 : What’s Coming to the Next Update
New Lands of Fontaine
Genshin Impact 4.0 will introduce players to the new region of Fontaine, a Hydro-themed land engulfed in conflict. As the water threatens to consume the land, it is up to you to restore balance alongside the newly revealed Hydro archon Furina. The update is set to release on August 16, with an early release on the night of August 15 for Western players.
New Characters and Banners
The trailer for Genshin Impact 4.0 showcases three new sibling characters: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. Lyney, a Pyro bow user, will be the first playable five-star character from Fontaine. He will be available during the 4.0 launch along with a rerun for Yelan. Lynette, an Anemo sword user, will feature as a four-star character in their banners, but will also be given for free in a post-Adventure Rank 25 event. The second half of update 4.0 will feature rerun banners for Zhongli and Tartaglia, with Freminet, a new Cryo claymore user, as a rate-up four-star character.
Free Characters and Limited-Time Events
Update 4.0 includes several limited-time events, one of which will reward players with a free copy of Bennett. As one of the best characters in the game, obtaining Bennett without the need for in-game purchases or banner luck is a welcome addition for players.
Underwater Exploration and Combat
One of the major features of Genshin Impact 4.0 is the introduction of underwater exploration. Players will be able to explore underwater areas without the need for an oxygen meter. Stamina will also not be an issue, as it can be replenished by collecting special orbs. Additionally, a new underwater combat system with unique animations for each character will be implemented. Players will need to absorb new abilities from spirits called Fontemer Aberrants to engage in combat. The land and underwater areas in Fontaine are divided roughly in a 50/50 ratio, with giant floating cubes of water serving as environmental puzzles.
Future Improvements and Teasers
The developers have teased improvements to artifacts, which players have been eagerly awaiting after years of grinding. Two new artifact sets will be introduced in update 4.0. While these quality-of-life improvements may not be included in the upcoming update, players can expect to see them in future updates.
Overall, Genshin Impact 4.0 promises an exciting new region, characters, events, and gameplay mechanics for players to enjoy. Stay tuned for the release on August 16 and embark on the next chapter of the Genshin Impact adventure.
